While visiting for work we read about this place on Instagram. We arrived early, which is highly recommended. It was empty when arriving and packed with a long line when we left. This cafe is unique amongst the unique. Other than the loud, obnoxious music, the atmosphere is amazing. They have beautiful plants and the walls all have paintings. We sat outside. Great choice. We ordered the chilaquiles, and someone had a traditional American breakfast of eggs and pancakes. I had the specialty hot chocolate. There must be an artist in the kitchen since everything was beautiful. I order chilaquiles often when in Mexico. These were not superior, but very respectable and I would get them again. Everyone loved their breakfast. Our waiter was great. Very attentive and pleasant. Highly recommended other than the loud music.

It’s a hidden gem. I enjoyed my time and brunch there. Very cozy place where you can talk and enjoy food. Music, decoration and the small garden along with obviously coffee simply makes the time tasty. It’s a budget friendly place considering you taste very good and original dishes. With around 10-15 dollar you should be fine. Staff is very friendly, they accept cards.

Update as I am back in GDL and back here for my favorite breakfast and coffee in the neighborhood I am staying in. This morning I had the same parfait and coffee and it was great as the last time! The paintings have changed as they rotate but the food and service is great as before! Highly recommend for great coffee, food, service and ambiance. This is from Jan 3, 2022! I was staying in the neighborhood on a brief trip to GDL. I found this cafe while just walking around the neighborhood. The place is nicely decorated with elephant themed artwork. I had a parfait and coffee and both were excellent! The coffee was so good that I decided to buy some whole bean coffee to bring back home with me. My server spoke English and she explained to me the different coffee roasts they had in store and where they originated from. I will definitely visit again for good food, service and reasonable prices.

This place surprised me by how tasty everything is. The Enrijoladas are very different than the traditional Enriholadas. They're made with nopales (cactus) and cheese with sliced radish on top. The staff were amiable and happily helped me through my broken Spanish. Their coffee is also something worth mentioning. Not many places offer you the option of how you'd like your coffee brewed and then filtered. Elefante has it all! I will be back and recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid-back coffee shop where you can just be in your own world with little distraction.
